The Venerable Master must have sprayed some insecticide to get rid of the worms.%u201d Hahaha! I did consider that, but I didn%u2019t have the money to buy any. Instead, I blew a few puffs of air%u2014%u201cHu, hu, hu%u201d%u2014and just like that, they all moved away. To this day, I still don%u2019t know where they went.If I hadn%u2019t told you, you wouldn%u2019t have known that the %u201cworms%u201d were not ordinary creatures. In reality, they were my dragon disciples who had taken refuge under me and had come here to pray to the Buddha. How else could I have confidently said, %u201cTomorrow, when you return, they will be gone%u201d%u2014and they truly disappeared? Those %u201cworms%u201d were manifestations of the heavenly dragons and the eightfold division. This demonstrates that the heavenly dragons and the eightfold division often appear among us, though people rarely recognize them unless someone points it out. Today, I am explaining this; otherwise, you might never understand.On one occasion, an old acquaintance from the Northeast came to visit me. He was also a disciple who had taken refuge under me. We were delighted to reunite after such a long time. When he was preparing to leave, I encouraged him to visit the monastery regularly. He responded, %u201cI don%u2019t think I%u2019ll come again. The peach tree in front of the temple entrance has so many giant worms%u2014they%u2019re terrifying!%u201dI told him, %u201cThose are a mix of dragons and snakes! But if you%u2019re afraid, I%u2019ll ask them to leave, and you won%u2019t see a single one tomorrow.%u201d True enough, when he came back to participate in the Dharma Assembly the following day, there wasn%u2019t a single worm in sight.
